It is a beautiful evening for a special adventure, my favourite swimming around an island.
We are sticking together.
So lots of swimming action underneath, the light is just spectacular.
Both above and below.
At the Coosh its just not quite high enough to swim over.
Declan and others are in togs and I wish I was too.
I follow Declans toes.
Super flat at the corner of Bullock Island before going into open water, so never quite sure what it will be like.
Swimmers were talking earlier about the wedge that you swim through, I ask is that it ?
Karen the kayaker who has joined us tells me no its further around. The water has a lovely gentle waves that lift you slowly up and down and even without swimming would have pushed us back to the Boat House.
Karen spots a sea anemone.
Sheelagh has waited for us to show us “the wedge”.
I feel like a little kid on an adventure.
I keep following Declan as the wedge gets narrower and shalower. I can feel the push and pull of the tide.
We have no choice but to climb over the rocks.
We are laughing like a bunch of kids this is so much fun.
I follow the laughter out into the light.
I bump directly into this blue plastic sheet floating among this natural beauty .
A reminder that we all must try harder to reduce our plastic consumption. Imagine if we don’t what our waters will look like.
We are getting hungry and Simon has made a delicious bean and chorizo stew for us all in his boat house.
Swarms of fish dart underneath us this little group all on its own.
Congratulations to newly engaged Siobhan and her fiancé Dominic.
Just over 2k a wonderful swim and thanks Simon for a delicious supper and great company as always from the Lough HyneLapper’s.
Turning the Plastic Tide Tips.
I have used West Cork Produced Modern Botany for over a year now. It comes in a glass bottle and is a multi tasking essential oil and can be used on your face, body and hair. I use it all the time especially after a swim and it smells divine and leaves your skin feeling amazing. I was so excited when I found out they were producing a 100% natural deodorant. It also comes in a glass bottle is unisex and smells so georgous I don’t use any perfume as I don’t want to lose the smell. I called into their headquarters in Schull to ask if I could refill my oil and deodorant bottles , they said they are working on this and hope to in the future offer this service to customers. So I will hold on to my bottles and keep you updated. The award winning oil costs 35 euro and the deodorant 25 euro, just amazing products I highly recommend them and worth every cent.
